“I chose the Royal Naval College because it really inspires me as a place. Christopher Wren's architecture is brilliant - I love symmetry. I think the feel of the architecture is in the piece too. Trinity College where I teach sometimes is very inspirational. The river Thames flows past. There is a big lawn where children play. I tried to get some of these ideas into my piece: Time - Greenwich of course. There is a grandfather clock in there somewhere. Also timelessness - that kind of static vibe on the house section. Water - arpeggios etc, and the field recordings on site sound a bit watery too. History - trombones always seem historical to me and have an element of grandeur too!” -- Composed by Finn Peters for Musicity.
